The scene of angels falling down from the sky like a plethora of shooting stars was both breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. Dean sat with his back against the wheel of the Impala, his baby brother in his arms as he watched, finding himself awestruck, unable to move as Heaven crashed down all around them... literally. This could only mean one of two things... either Naomi was telling the truth and Cas had chosen not to believe her, or that Cas had taken Naomi's advice and tried to stop maybe the douchiest angel of all, Metatron... and failed.
Dean's mind wandered as he thought about his angelic friend... well, friend was a term loosely used these days. He wasn't really sure where they stood with each other. On one hand, Cas had let him down, yet again... made a mistake and trusted the wrong people when, Dean felt, he should have known that he could always trust the Winchesters. Dean may not have always made the most intelligent decisions, but one thing he was above all else, and that was loyal. He didn't put anything above family, and as he told the angel once, there was a time when he considered him to be a brother. He felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach as he realized that they may not get a chance to make amends this time. If the angels were falling, there was a good chance that Castiel was dead.
Sam made a little grunt of pain and it was enough to snap Dean out of his thoughts. He looked down at his brother and then moved to push himself to his feet, which was no easy task as he was trying to pull a weakened giant up as well. "Come on, little brother. I've got you," he mumbled, awkwardly helping Sam lean against the car before opening the passenger door and helping him inside. Once Sam was seated, Dean maneuvered his long legs onto the floorboard and then shut the door, going over to the driver's side and getting in. Crowley was still tied up inside the building, but he couldn't be bothered with that right now. Right now, he had to take care of Sam, and he started the engine and took off toward town.
