There is no place like home. That’s what we used to say, just a few words who can release your heart, or at least release yourself if you are Dorothy. Jolene’s home could be a sanctuary of peace and silence, but no, she is living with three children boy. She should get some rest, but she couldn’t sleep with all this mess in the house and finally getting up to start tidy up the kitchen and the lounge. Some toy from Jesse here, some comic books over there from Alban and Charles, it may take her an hour, but at least she feels a little bit better now.
In a few hours, she will hunt a werewolf, the only thing she was the most afraid of and she didn’t have the choice but tracking him down and kill it as he already killed some child in her streets. Jolene could have ask for help from a friend of her father, but she just want to protect her family and David didn’t trust him that much, not enough to tell him how many children he’s got and so she’ll do. Stress running through her veins and she hope she really could go over herself to not freeze in front of that creature. Is she brave enough? God knows what we are able to do for the ones we love.
As the sun rise up, so does the Bower family. Jolene takes her shower and then goes straight downstairs to prepare some breakfast. As always, eggs and bacons for both teenager boys and then milk in a feeding-bottle for the little one. What about her? A cup of hot coffee always work out.
“What are you gonna do today Jolene? Asked Charles
- Mission. A werewolf messing around here, I need to stop him.
- Alright. Can I come?
- Of course not, we’ve already discuss about that Charles.
- Fine, cool, I’m stuck in a so boring life when my sister kick demons ass.
- Don’t be stupid. She drinks a mouthful of her coffee. Boring life is good, boring life is being safe.
- Well, whatever!”
This is how the conversation ends. Charles eating his meal fast and simply goes straight Miss Martin’s home. Alban decides to do the dishes with his brother as Jolene packed up for her hunt. Everything she needs old in a bag, two silver knifes and one revolver with plenty of silver bullet, some bottles of water and some crisps when she’ll get hungry. Everybody went out, kisses goodbye, the two boys going to the neighbourhood home and Jolene goes in her car, throwing her bag on the back sit.
“Oh boys, I wish you could be there…I’m so bored.”
Parked near a forest, no sign of anything around here, she decides to took her knifes and filled the revolver with the silvers bullets and got some extra in her Jeans pocket. The weather was nice, but she couldn’t help and shivers every time the word “werewolf” comes into her head. It was really quiet here. A bit too quiet to be honest, like the big silence before the storm comes up and she can feel it coming deep down her bones. Staying still, her gaze couldn’t fix on anything but trees and grass, and suddenly there it is, this tiny little noise from her left. A boy comes out, smiling at her.
“Hello cutie, nice weather to take a walk in the forest, eh?
- Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. A walk in a forest, alone.
-That’s a shame. Maybe I should give you some company. As he walked toward her, she grab her knife. Or not.”
Her heart beating so fast, like if it’s going to explode in her chest, she freeze for a moment, a few minutes and the boy takes advantage by running fast, he was the damn werewolf. Damn it. She has to move, she has to kill this man or he will continue to commit murders. Suddenly, her legs went free from the ground and she runs after the creature. She runs fast, faster than she ever did but thing is she doesn’t have the choice. Jolene hopes the boy wasn’t too far from her, this way she will be able to shout him and then kills him with the bullet in the heart. For a very second, she didn’t really watch her steps, focusing on when she will grab her gun, but there was something and she hits it hard. A scream of pain and surprise came out from her mouth, rolling for a bit then gets in her knees and hands, maybe she hits the werewolf?
“Hey!”
She shouts, getting back on her feet she looks at the man on the floor, definitively not the creature. She’s getting closer, rubbing her left arm where she cans still feeling the pain and felt a little bit embarrassed.
“Hey, are you alright there? I’m…I’m sorry. I was…well I was running and I didn’t saw you, I didn’t mean to hurt you. Then she said in a whisper. Nor me. Then she said louder. Do you need a hand to stand up?”
She offered her right hands to the man, hiding the knife behind her back. No matter what, the werewolf was too far away from now, she will get him later.
“By the way, what are you doing here, on your own?”
