Personality:
Castiel used to show very little emotion, he hadn’t been seen showing any strong emotions to anything. According to Castiel Uriel is the funniest angel in the Garrison. Castiel knows that angels are not aloud to display affection or emotion of any kind. This was back when he was following orders and not questioning anything the angels said or did. Castiel generally was a ‘good soldier’ and one that always did what he was told. Since he was created, Castiel always looked up to his brothers and sisters, always, and he never looked back and questioned anything they did. Not until he met Dean Winchester.

Castiel and the other angles were willing to destroy humans should it be necessary whether it is right or not, they do not show emotions to what their final orders would be. While in Jimmy’s body, Castiel realizes that he was starting to show more emotions then he was aloud to. It was also starting to impair his judgment. He had his doubts and there is no room for that according to the angels he worked with. The angels actually took Cas back to Heaven when they realized Castiel was showing too much ‘emotion’ towards his charge. After they ‘set it right’, Castiel was back to being a robot for the other angels. He wasn’t happy with what he had to do, but he knew that he had to do it and he didn’t have a choice. Castiel eventually decided to do the right thing and go against his brothers. He went against orders to keep Dean away from Sam, and when the angels found out he was with Chuck the prophet, Cas was killed by the Archangel Raphael.

After the boys and Castiel avoided the Apocalypse and sent Lucifer into the PIT, Castiel changed. First off, he had to get Sam back for Dean, he knew that much. So, without asking for help, he did it on his own. However...he got Sam back soulless.... though he didn’t realize it. Castiel started taking charge, without help from Dean or Sam, and things were not going great. He knows that if he doesn’t do something and fast....he will be in hugh trouble, but for now... he has no one to help him.

Now, Castiel has found that his emotions got the better of him. He was working with Crowley, for a long time to try and get Raphael out of leadership in Heaven. They started a civil war in Heaven, and while Cas was fighting for Freedom, Raphael was fighting for the apocalypse to be brought back. Castiel knew, that this would end up bad for Sam and Dean, and he knew he would loose Dean’s trust, but he had to do this for Heaven. In the end Cas was right, he did loose Dean’s trust, and that hurt him more then he could ever feel emotions. Castiel was hurt, and did what he had to do to save Heaven. In the end, he betrayed Crowley, became the new God and threatened Sam and Dean, and Bobby. Castiel knows he has to fix things, but he also knows that some things can’t be fixed. He knows that he will never gain his friends back after what he has done.

Since Castiel became the new God, lots happened. First, he died, and was saved for some reason....the Leviathans took over his personality, and made him not be himself. After he was found floating in the very river he died in, he had no memory of what happened, when it finally came back he realized he was an angel. Then....all the feelings he had of everything that happened came crashing down on him. He didn't want to remember, he wanted to forget, and he wanted to fix things, so...instead, he went crazy and wund up in a nut house. He blamed himself for Sam having Lucifer in him, so.... he took that from Sam and thats what made him crazy. He had Lucifer in his mind.... and he wouldn't leave. He cured Sam though. Later, Cas got back to normal and ended up in Purgatory with Dean when they attempted to stop the Leviathan. He was there for a year or so, and that changed him a lot. He felt that was where he should be. Once he was out, he wanted to be a hunter, to fix everything he had done, or at least start small, then the angel/demon trials came to their attention. Dean and Sam were trying to close the Gates of Hell and Castiel tried closing the gates of Heaven with Metatron who he thought was his friend. Metatron betrayed him and Cas found himself fallen, and human. Now, he has nothing but guilt in him because once again he didn't listen to Dean like he should have. Castiel has a lot of heart, and he tries to do the right thing but a lot of times he fails at it. He tries too hard....

Character History...
"I was gonna say you look like you'd seen a ghost, but you'd probably be stoked."
Castiel is the angel that pulled Dean Winchester out of Hell. When he first met Dean, Dean was completely unbelieving in angles or God. Castiel convinced him that angels were real, by showing him his wings. While Dean was in Hell, Sam was using his ‘powers’ that was given to him by the Yellow Eyed Demon. Sam, Dean’s brother, was able to pull Demons from the vessels using only his mind. Castiel knew that wasn’t a good thing. Castiel had to show Dean what Sam was up to so he took Dean back in time to show him the reason why Sam was using these powers that clearly didn’t come from God. When Castiel first met Sam and Dean, he was monotone, and hardly emotional at all and always obeying God’s orders....all that was about to change.

Around Halloween people in a small town are being sacrificed to summon Samhain. Castiel and Uriel (Who is a specialist) come to destroy the town. Dean and Sam protest and decide to remain in the town. The angels reveal their true orders were to follow Dean’s orders as a test. Sam destroyed Samhain and Castiel reveals to Dean that Hell would be fought on Earth should they fail. Castiel also explained to Dean that he had his doubts about what was right and wrong anymore, something an angel shouldn’t feel.

Some time later, Castiel and Uriel returned to attempt to destroy Anna, a women who could hear angels talking. When Dean and Sam find out that Anna was a fallen angel, they help her hide from the angels who want to kill her, and the demons who want to question her. Uriel finally threatens Dean that he will either kill Sam, or kill Anna. Dean gave up Anna, but not without a plan. Alastair who held Ruby, threatened the angels not to kill Anna, and there was a battle. Anna realized that Ureil held her grace, and she ended up grabbing it from him and getting her grace back before it was too late. Castiel and Uriel left the scene after Alastair and the rest of his demons were temporary destroyed. Castiel currently was starting to have more doubts then usual and he is also experiencing emotions more then he should be as well. He had his doubts on what he is supposed to be experiencing, but he knows that being inside Jimmy is not helping him. He also knew that he was getting to close with Dean, but he has a desire to help him as much as he can. At one point, the angels brought him up to Heaven to remind Cas what he was supposed to do. When Cas came back, he was terrified of the angels so he did what he was told, at least until Dean convinced him otherwise, then he died trying to save them all. Unfortunately, even though Castiel helped Dean try to get to Sam, it was too late and Lucifer was freed because Sam broke the final seal.

After Lucifer was set free by Sam (After Cas warned Sam about the demon blood and everything else), Casitel was thought to be dead. He had tried to fight against his angels and was killed. However, he was brought back to life by God. Or so he thought. Truth was, he wasn’t sure. They worked hard on ideas to try to get Lucifer back into Hell, and Sam finally came up with the idea that they would trap Lucifer in Hell by letting him take his ‘vessel’, who was Sam himself. Gabriel had told them the only way to defeat his brother was to trap him, so Cas knew he needed to help with this.

They all trusted Sam on this plan, including Dean who knew he would loose his brother. Sam trapped Lucifer in Hell, and was in fact, trapped himself. Lucifer had killed Cas once again and once again Casitel was brought back to fight. Now, Castiel is debating on what to do with Heaven or not. He also is saddened by the fact that... none of the angels will listen to him. There are a select few who saw that God pulled Cas back from the dead, but they didn’t try to follow him. They only were in ‘awe’ that he was back. Castiel is now alone, trying to regain freedom in Heaven..... wondering where it will take him.

After Sam went to Hell, Castiel decided it was his duty to get him back. So, he thought of a plan, brought Sam back, only without a soul.... Castiel was unaware of this for quite some time. It wasn’t until he was able to try and touch Sam’s soul that he realized he didn’t have one. He also lied to Dean and told him he wasn’t aware that Sam was back, nor was he aware how he got back. Once he realized he brought him back without a soul, Cas felt guilty. At one point, Castiel wanted to go to Dean for help with Raphael, when he was threatened by him, but he knew he couldn’t pull Dean out of his normal life. He just didn’t want to do that to him. That was when Crowley offered him a deal.... Castiel knew better then to trust a demon, but he also knew that he had no other choice. HIs ultimate plan was to trick Crowley in the end, but of course, that he kept to himself. Crowley offered him a deal. 50/50 on the souls that it would take to open Purgatory and unleash a power onto them both. Castiel would become God, and Crowley would continue to be King of Hell. He knew it was the ultimate plan. In the end, the WInchesters found out Castiel had been lying to them, this whole time, and called him on it. They trapped him in a fire pit, and that when Cas let everything out. He told them of the deal, how it would help, and that he needed them to back off. They didn’t listen, so Cas ended up making Sam remember Hell, and he knew when he did that, he lost Dean’s trust forever.

In the end, Castiel ended up tricking Crowley and Raphael who eventually joined Crowley in a attempt to stand against Cas. Castiel eventually got all the souls to himself and became the new ‘God”. After he did, he destroyed Raphael and then threatened Dean and Sam. Dean begged and pleaded with Cas to stop this, now that he got Heaven back, but Castiel told Dean and Sam and Bobby that he hoped they wouldn’t see him again.

Now Castiel struggles with his emotions more then ever. He wants to win Dean’s trust back, but he knows as ‘God’ he can’t do it. He also knows that the souls are eating him up on the inside. He knows he needs help, but he also knows he can’t really get it from Dean and Sam, not anymore, and he knows they would tell him that he did this to himself. Still..... he knows that he is dying. He wants to try to be the best he can be while in power, but he’s scared. He does not want Sam, Dean or Crowley to see it.

After being in power, Castiel found that the Levithian who took over his body, were starting to take over his mind too. He eventually went back to Sam and Dean for help. They tried to get the souls out of Castiel, but when they did, it failed....the souls took over and Castiel was Leviathian. He then walked into a river with the souls and died as they left his vessel. Castiel was then found later on floating in the river and a demon took him on as her husband. When she did...Castiel accepted her, but at first he did not remember. Dean eventually found Castiel and helped him remember who he really was, and thats when they realized who he was really married too. He became an angel again. Later on... Castiel became crazy when he helped Sam. Lucifer was plaguing Sam's mind, so Cas took it on himself because he felt guilty over what he had done to break Sam's wall. He ended up in a mental institute for a while and didn't come out until he was needed again by Sam and Dean. When trying to stop the Leviathan from taking over Castiel and Dean ended up in Purgatory. They were trapped there for a year. While there, Castiel learned about himself and he also decided that was where he needed to stay. Dean tried saving Cas, but he refused his help and decided to stay in Purgatory forever. Naomi was the one who finally got Castiel out of Purgatory. Later on Castiel and Dean realized that Naomi was using Cas as bate for Heaven. She was controlling him. Castiel found out about an angel tablet that would eventually close Heaven from Earth, so he went to use that. For a while, he went into hiding, until the angels and Crowley found him once again. Later they ran into Metatron, who was supposed to help Castiel close the gates of Heaven. Meanwhile, the Winchesters were attempting to close the gates of Hell with demon Trials that Sam Winchester was performing. Castiel was going to do angel trials to close Heaven. However, instead, Metatron tricked Castiel, stole his grace as the last trial and closed Heaven all to himself and let the rest of the angels fall to the ground. Castiel is now a fallen angel on Earth. He is human though he still has his memories of everything.

Angel of the Lord. Castiel was an angel of the Lord, and he was nothing more, nothing less. Castiel tried getting that in his head over and over again. He constantly questioned and prayed to God over his doubts, his emotions, but yet he still kept experiencing them. More and more, Castiel was having doubts in his orders. Especially after they were ordered to destroy Anna, who had been a long time friend of his back when she was their boss.

Castiel did not know what was right or wrong anymore. The only thing he ever knew was his orders, and now things were changing. Why did things have to be so complicated? Why now when he was needed the most? Of course Castiel had only been in a human vessel one other time, when he had to speak to the prophet Paul, but even so, he never felt close to Paul the way he had been with Dean. It was odd really, the way he considered Dean part of the family. He didn’t understand it because angels simply weren’t supposed to feel that way. He questioned God’s judgment over and over and over again.

Uriel was pacing back and forth angrily after the battle with the demons and Anna. Castiel put a hand on his shoulder to stop his pacing. When Uriel was angry, there was just no stopping him. “Uriel, I understand you wished to destroy something, but perhaps destroying Anna was not the answer, if it were, then God would have allowed it to happen,” he said.

“What GOD Castiel?” Uriel argued, “I do not SEE a God anymore,” he said to his friend.

Castiel looked at Uriel shocked, “How can you say that?” he asked. “After all these years, you choose NOW to think this way? Uriel you have been very close to falling lately and it frightens me,” he said to his brother.

“Look around you!” Uriel said angrily pointing at the humans who were walking past them not paying any attention to what they were discussing. “All I see is filth, lies, sins! Why is nothing being done about this Castiel?” he asked. “And yet we are ordered to destroy one of our own, and she gets away! Nothing is making SENSE!” he yelled.
Castiel simply nodded. Not necessarily in agreement, but just so Uriel would stop talking for two minutes. “We have our orders,” he said, “Right now they are to follow Dean Winchester,” he reminded him, “And as far as Sam, we are not to touch him either,” he added. “Don’t forget they both have important roles to play,” Castiel said.

Uriel rolled his eyes, “I am done with this conversation,” he said and then he left.

Castiel sighed as his brother left. Why was he feeling these things, these doubts, when Uriel had a clear head still? Castiel didn’t understand it but he vowed to find answers.

He found a church outside of town that was abandoned. Castiel knelt down and started to pray, “Father,” he said. “I am confused,” he told him. “All I am asking for is some answers. Some reason why I am different. What is it about Dean Winchester that is bringing these…emotions out in me? What is it about being in Jimmy’ s body that is doing this to me?” he asked.

Of course there was no answer. Castiel sighed and stood up. He walked out of the church and went to find Dean and Sam. He knew there were more tasks at hand and if it should get worse, his fellow angels would remind him of who he was. Castiel knew that should they know what he was feeling, he could be in danger. Terrible danger. When an angel sinned or broke their orders…. Only the worse happened to them and Casitel knew he had to hold his tongue if he wanted to live.
