First Things First...
"We both know where this ends. One of us dies."
DEAN WINCHESTER
The Basics...
"Whatever you decide, decide. Both feet in or both feet out."
Name: Dean Winchester
Nicknames: Jerk
Gender: Male
Age/DOB: 34 (January 24, 1979)
Occupation: Hunter
Member Group: Humans
Playby: Jensen Ackles
In Depth...
"It's not about fault. It's about will."
Likes: his car, his brother, classic rock music, burgers and pie, long walks on the beach and frisky women, hot showers
Dislikes: anyone screwing with his car or his brother, supernatural creatures (demons in particular), douchebag angels
Dreams: Dean dreams of one day being able to put this hunting business to rest once and for all, but he knows that won't happen as long as there are evil supernatural sons of bitches out there living and breathing.
Strengths/Special Abilities: good fighter, highly knowledgeable about the supernatural, proficient with many weapon types, determination, great contacts
Weaknesses: Sam, lack of self-worth, a lifestyle that puts him in harms way on a daily basis, a smartass attitude, stubbornness
Personality (At least 2 paragraphs): Dean is probably the most determined, headstrong person anyone will ever meet. If there is an important task at hand, he will stop at almost nothing to get it done, even to the point of ignoring potential harm to himself. It's at the risk of his brother Sam that he draws the line, however.
Nothing is worth losing his brother for. Nothing. Dean's sense of loyalty to his brother carries on at a lesser degree to other important people in his life. He doesn't want to see anyone get hurt or killed, and he tends to feel at least somewhat responsible if harm comes to someone he cares about. Dean more often than not will put himself in harm's way in order to protect an innocent... And there is nothing, absolutely nothing he won't do to ensure that Sam keeps breathing.
Despite the horrible state of the world he lives in, occasionally Dean will attempt to lighten the mood by tossing in some weird movie reference or making a joke. Unfortunately, there aren't many who really get his sense of humor, so most often he is the only one laughing. To most, Dean might come across as pretty rough around the edges, and maybe he is, but beneath that gruff exterior is a guy who is just doing his damnedest to make the world a safer, better place for a bunch of people who don't even know he exists. Hunting is a thankless job, but an important one, and its because Dean knows just how crucial it is that he very rarely complains about the lack of glory or thanks that comes with it.
Although the opportunity to do so has come fewer and farther between in recent years, Dean still likes to take time to enjoy the little things in life between jobs: a hot slice of apple pie, watching the stars from the hood of the Impala or the attention of a pretty girl. These things are all small comforts... tiny reminders of the world he and his allies are fighting to save.
Family and Contacts...
"I realize that the only way we've made it through all this is by hanging together."
Siblings: Sam Winchester (brother), Adam Milligan (half-brother)
Important others: Castiel, Kevin Tran, Garth Fitzgerald, Charlie Bradbury and more... also others who have passed on have had major impact on the man he has become
Character History...
"I was gonna say you look like you'd seen a ghost, but you'd probably be stoked."
Dean was born January 24, 1979 to John and Mary Winchester in Lawrence, Kansas. Life was pretty average, run-of-the mill for the first few years, even after his baby brother Sam was born. That is, until the night of Sam's six month birthday when Azazel, commonly referred to by the Winchesters as 'yellow eyes', murdered his mother and set Sam's nursery on fire. This one night set into motion a chain of events that would lead John Winchester into a life of hunting the supernatural, and it would lead him to raising his two sons to do the same.
The first twenty-something years of Dean's life were pretty much spent on the road, being left for days at a time in random motel rooms to be looked after by the cleaning staff while his father went off on a hunt somewhere, most often following leads in the hopes of finding whatever it was that had killed Mary. Sam and Dean never spent longer than a month in one place, so they never really had time to settle in and make a lot of friends. This only served to strengthen the bond between them as a family, and Dean always did his best to please his dad and to look after his brother.
After high school, Sam went away to Stanford for college, so for a few years it was just Dean hunting with his Dad. But then there came a time when Dean and John were on separate jobs and John disappeared. This was when Dean drove to California to find Sam for help. Sam was reluctant at first, and insisted that he would only help search for the weekend. But when he returned from his few days searching with Dean just to witness his girlfriend Jessica die in the same manner their mother had, everything changed, and Dean and Sam partnered up to end this evil son of a bitch once and for all.
The years of death, chaos, heartbreak and trials that followed would have broken any average man, and they have certainly taken their toll on Dean. They managed to kill the yellow eyed demon, but during the process Sam ended up getting stabbed in the back and killed. Dean made a crossroads deal to get him back, was allowed one year to live, and despite all of their best efforts to get him out of the deal, he was dragged to Hell, where he was tortured on the rack for thirty years until the white-eyed demon Alastair offered him the chance to take over and do the torturing instead. So that's what he did, until the angel Castiel swept down and took hold of him, literally pulling him out of Hell. Unfortunately, Lucifer's plan had already been set into motion. By taking up the knife in Hell, Dean had broken the first of 66 seals that would be needed to set Lucifer himself free on Earth.
Now Dean had not only the guilt of what he had done to deal with, he had Sam who had apparently been fraternizing with a demon named Ruby (who Dean did not trust one bit) and now there were angels intruding on his life. Oh, and of course there was a super powerful demon named Lilith who was breaking the seals just as quickly as Dean and Sam were stopping them from being broken. In the end, they were unsuccessful, as Sam had trusted in Ruby and she had, of course, misled him, as her goal all along had been to set Lucifer free. So now Lilith was dead, but the devil walked the Earth.
To make matters worse, it became known soon that the angels intended to use the bodies of Sam and Dean to have some epic holy battle. Apparently Sam was Lucifer's true vessel and Dean was Michael's. The brothers worked together with Castiel, Bobby, and other allies to try and find a way out of it. In the end, thanks to a little postmortem help from the archangel Gabriel, they found a way to get rid of Lucifer and Michael both. Michael had taken Dean's half-brother Adam as his vessel and Sam had said yes to Lucifer, and using the four rings of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, they had created a portal to Hell. Sam barely managed to wrestle control of his body from Lucifer and threw himself into the fiery pit, taking Michael (and Adam) with him.
After this horrible event, Dean tried to go live a normal life with his old flame, Lisa Braeden and her son, Ben. It was about a year later when Sam came and found him and dragged him back out into the hunting world. He and Lisa tried to make it... to balance their life together as a family with his life on the road, but in the end, his lifestyle proved to be too dangerous for Lisa and Ben, and he asked Castiel to erase their memories of him. As much as it broke his heart to do so, he left behind what might have been his only chance at a family.
After the apocalypse was thwarted, war broke out in Heaven, because with Michael out of the way there were angels fighting for leadership. Castiel went behind the Winchesters back and partnered up with the demon Crowley to find a way to open Purgatory in the hopes of taking in the souls that were held there, because more souls meant more power and Castiel was fighting for control against the archangel Raphael. Unfortunately, though Cas successfully outsmarted Crowley and managed to take in the souls, he also took in the Leviathan, and it proved to be too much for him to handle. Castiel appeared to have died and in the process released the most horrible creature that Dean and Sam had fought yet.
The next year was spent trying to get rid of the nasty Leviathan, which they managed to do by killing their leader, Dick Roman. But doing so landed Dean and Castiel right into Purgatory, a nasty place with evil creatures lurking around every turn. Dean, with the help of an unlikely ally in a vampire named Benny, managed to finally escape Purgatory through a portal, unwillingly leaving Cas behind. He reunited with Sam and after some time, Castiel, and with the help of some new allies, they have been working on sealing the gates of Hell in the manner of Sam doing trials that have taken a horrible toll on his body. But Dean found out almost too late that if Sam finished the trials, he would die, and as stated above, nothing was worth losing his brother for. He asked Sam to give up on them... and that was when the angels started to fall...

Dean glanced over at the passenger seat as he drove, his eyebrows drawn a bit as he watched his brother sleep. Sam looked relaxed and at peace, emanating a sense of calm that betrayed the amount of pain and chaos he had been going through, particularly in the last several months. He couldn't help feeling sick with worry over his brother. It was bad enough all the times in the past watching Sam get injured and even watching him jump into the fiery pits of Hell himself, but watching him go through the slow, agonizing torture of slowly dying due to these damn trials was almost unbearable. For almost a year he had to watch as his baby brother deteriorated right before his eyes.
The sound of a horn blaring snapped Dean's attention back to the road, his green eyes widening at the headlights that were in his direct view. He quickly jerked the steering wheel to the right, having been so lost in his thoughts that he had actually managed to drift into the lane of oncoming traffic. He managed to ignore the
driver of the other vehicle flipping him off as he passed him, reaching up one aching hand to rub his eyes a bit, blinking as the road ahead and the night sky came into focus once again through the windshield. The wipers were steadily swaying back and forth at a hypnotizing rhythm as the rain poured in steady, thunderous drops,
and he realized just how drowsy it was making him. It was time to find a place to rest for the night.
Dean let out a loud yawn as he pulled off at the next exit and found the first affordable-looking motel. Sam stirred a bit in the seat beside him as he pulled the car into a parking spot next to the office. "Stay here," he instructed Sam as he got out of the car and headed in to book a room for the night. Hopefully a good night's
sleep would do Sam some good, because he sure as hell needed something.
