"Hey there Matty, how'd the hunt go?" The happiness leaked from his voice into the receiver.
"It went just like you said it would. I'm glad you talked me into not going alone, I probably would've died." Garth made a breathy laugh.
"Dude, I told you." Garth raised his voice with pure joy on the newbie's success. "Sometimes those bloodsuckers are hard to beat down. Them's crafty beyotches." He knew that he probably shouldn't speak out in public, but it was late and only a few people were giving him questioning looks. He took a second to lean against the wall and listen more carefully to Matt's voice.
"Thanks Garth, I'm glad that you're around to help with all this hunting business. I have no idea what I'd do without you." Garth's face lightly reddened at the praise, and could only think of his adoration of his former guide, Bobby.
"Aw, Shucks. It's no biggie, now go get some proper rest. You never know when another job may pop up. Maybe next time we can team up." He heard the other man laugh on the other end.
"Totally! Night."
"Night, Matt." He ended the call and slipped the phone back into his pocket. There was that glowing feeling that surrounded his heart again. It always reinforced his reason for turning to hunting instead of dentistry. Helping people where not many could, it was an amazing force.
